I'm having trouble with a .dat file type.

I downloaded spidey 2 from suprnova size 1424mb and it came as 2 dat files(named cd1 and cd2).
I can watch it with videolan but I can't find out what codec or it's file type is, I've tried G-Spot but it didn't know.

    Any ideas?

Stumped ya eh? Done me too!

Only thing I can think of is that it's been named the wrong file type(dat instead of bin), how do I change the file type from dat to bin?

What exactly are you trying to do?

When a vcd is created the actual movie is usually converted to AVSEQ01.dat within a folder caled MPEGAV, it seems like the files you have downloaded have been copied dirctly from a vcd. And renamed to whatever.dat instead of AVSEQ01.dat.
I think you may be able to rename it as whatever.mpg and burn it as a video cd.

But i am drunk and may be talking nonsense

You should be able to watch them with bsplayer as well.

    No you're making perfect sense

I think the person who is sharing the files thought there was no need to give people all the excess files for the VCD as nero will create them for you.

It can't be a re-named compressed file or CD image otherwise it wouldn't play on any media player, it must be just one movie file one each disk.
