It's like greased lightning! Good work Brian.

Having to use proxy here too.
Can someone post the IP of a DNS server which works, please?
Could be better as a temporary workaround than using a proxy.

Many thanks, Rookiecrd1. Your hard work is much appreciated! :beerchug:

It's ok, I found one.
There's a public DNS proxy at 199.166.31.3, seems to work fine.
I noticed that the time is right at last, a sure sign of good things to come.
Edit: wrong address entered

I've been getting a lot of "failed to connect to remote server",
A clue for how to do this, should you need to change servers again.
If the DNS ttl is set at n days, you need to reduce it to a much smaller figure than that n days before you do the change. You can do is gradually if you like, reduce it to 1 day first, then 1 day before the change reduce it to 6 hours, etc.
You don't need to reduce it to less than the expected down time, but once the old system is down you should make the DNS change on the immediately.
You will get an increased DNS hits while the ttl is reduced, but that's surely much better than loss of service.
Haven't noticed much change in performance, but that could easily be related to the DNS server I'm currently having to use, and I'm sure other benefits such as ddos prevention will be a great help.

I don't think the DNS has propagated for everyone as of yet, so only about 1/3 the users are able to access the forum right now. This should gradually include everyone.
Yeah i was speaking to WithCheese over MSN and he couldn't get on without using a Proxy.
obviously the new server has a 'quality control' facility built in too

Seems, faster ? to me. Did notice while we down, they are a lot of crappy forums out there! B)
