well, i dunno about "people"... the only one i remember was John Romero, whose name got top billing over the title. the game's title is actually John Romero's Daikatana. he was previously the lead designer of Quake, which is an important job, but there are a lot more people involved in making a game than just one guy. maybe he got more credit than he deserved?

or maybe John Romero got less credit than he deserved. 'cause, look at Quake 3. awesome graphics engine... but aside from that, the CD barely had anything on it! a handful of deathmatch maps, less than a handful of barely playable CTF maps, it had basically no single player mode and the bot AI was pathetic. iD Software shoved an incomplete game out the door and left it up to amateur mod designers to finish the game for them. Unreal Tournament was primarily a multiplayer game too, but at least it gave you something for your $40-$50 rather than just pretty graphics... in fact, it gave players everything that iD forgot to put in Quake 3. they finally released Team Arena a year later... too little, too late, and they expected people to pay another $40-$50 for what UT already had. maybe Quake 2 and Quake 3 would've turned out very differently if John Romero had stayed with the company and worked on those games.

lolz. i'm not saying that Quake 3's online DM wasn't good. i'm saying that for the kind of price they charged, there should've been a lot more in the box. if John Romero hadn't gone nuts and went off to make that crappy Daikatana, he might've been around to make sure that Quake 3 offered more than just DM, DM, and more DM.

Yes this is true the fact that Quake3 offers only DM and the single player is pathetic but its multplayer is great. The game still wins funs though even if is 6 years old and a lot of fetures that should be included are missing like the money that u said. But we should admit that it was and still is a succesful game that is play by 1000 of ppl. Even right now ppl are blown up each other in more than 2000 servers!This shows the succes of the game without the extra fetures the UT has!

Frankly, who cares when theres an Unreal 3.0 engine UT coming in a few years

I was right. Its in good hands though, Raven make great games, most recent I can think of was Jedi Academy (I think).

Raven has done a lot using the Quake engine(s).

If Q4 entails a new engine rather than, say that of Doom3, raven is probably the best thing, next to id, to develop a new quake engine.

I think it could rawk, always liked quake better than unreal.
