yeah, so right, i downloaded shrek 2 brutus xvid repack, for the 3rd time and it still says corrupted. even though it downloaded fluently and completely in 4 hours

nah i downloaded it from kazaa

Kazaa pretty much sucks now
If you perfer KaZaa (yuk spit) then get CDmage this seems to repair MOST files that are corrupted, have a look here for how to use https://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=67574 - about half way down.
If its in a movie form ie avi/mpeg then get (below) to check for bad frames :

do wat ike says, kazaa is known for those kinda files 
i prefer bittorrent, but irc is just as good if not better, and if u can, use newsgroups too
