Thread: Compressing Files

  1. #1
Wow this is a tricky one I hope I got the right forum, anyways...

I have this hard disk it's an 120GB Maxtor and it's nearly full with my 'Backup' games & music.
If I used compression I'd recover upto 30GB. But would I notice any big perfomance drops in the games if I did compress all the files?

    Thanks

i'm assuming you're talking about Windows XP's NTFS compression - i'm not sure how much performance drop you'll see, i've never tested it myself or seen anyone else try it, but you will have a performance drop of some kind

i think you're better off burning your backups to CD-R, or uninstalling any games you never play
