I know you can compress your whole drive but I heard that'd effect the perfomance of my games on it?
I was wondering is there a way to compress certain files such as music, videos & programs but still be able to access them (i.e another form of compression other than winzip)

it's pointless to store mp3's or (most) avi's on a compressed drive or folder since theyre already compressed and actually use up more disk space if compressed.
you can compress folders by right clicking and selecting "properties>general>advanced>compress contents to save disk space" (on XP)

hard drives are cheap, get you one and put all your mp3 and avi's on it
