hi, thx for the link
i've reinstalled my Real Alternative and now i can see the video again
unfortunately, everything's back to square one, the original problem hasn't been solved yet

at the moment, i'll look into splitting the mkv up using virtualdubmod. hopefully i'll know wat to do in time
