I cant install direct x 9.0

when i try to install direct x 9.0C i always get a message from windows stating that the program hasnt passed through windows verification process and therefore refuses to install it . Can someone please help me. I need this program to run need for speed underground 2

you have XP SP2 right?

sp2 retail includes 9.0c

i dont have sp2. i tried installing it and windows update keeps on failing to update, same thing happens when ever i try to update and windows file using windows update. Do you have a suggestion on how this problem could be fixed ? i'm really think of installing a cracked version xp (with sp2) on this pc but not sure.

If it don't install when you update it normally means you have a blacklisted key

Download the whole service pack from Microsoft.

i agree with everyone else, ur windows might not pass the validity thingy that microsoft has been running for a while now

if u want to confirm this...write down the error msg, google for it. u might find some explanation somewhere

i think in the end, u still need to install sp2

Well i found out how to fix the problem , i had to run system recovery , and it was able to install SP2 and direct x successfully.
