I currently use MPC which IMO is still the best video media player around at the moment.
However, it hasn't been updated since March so I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not it has been discontinued? I looked at the forums at Sourceforge and they are discussing this very issue.

If it has, although the current version 6.4.8.2 still works OK, I will probably move to a different video player soon as it is becoming quite outdated now (codecs, splitters etc).

So, what other video players would people recommend instead of MPC (if it is indeed history). I'm currently looking into VLC

Well yeah it still plays mine but I was just wondering about whether VLC would be better as a new version was just released today (0.8.1) and the current MPC is 5 months old!
