Using nero vision express 3.0 to burn DVD can take a long time.
Burn it to harddrive first then to DVD.

dvd santa- Never heard of it.

TMPGEnc/winavi video-converter.seems to be the popular choices
    tmpgenc./.winavi.com/video-converter.htm

You Are Mistaken in that assumption that
Rizindon is using an older version

nero vision express 3.0 is the latest version, it is part of
    nero.6.6 reloaded

Yes Nerovision Express will turn your avi into vob files, or create your DVD

On a reasonably fast computer the whole process should take 2 or 3 hours.
I suppose with a 1Ghz processor you would be looking at double the time

Nerovision Express is a good starting point into the world of creating DVD's
