Whenever I try to save any pcitures, I only have the option of saving it as a bitmap, and not jpeg. This was fine last week and I haven't done anything that would change this.

Is there a setting in IE that can ensure I can save pictures as jpegs?

This is a known common problem with IE. You need to flush cache and cookies to see if the problem subsides.

I've not heard of a permanent solution nor a setting that you can 'flip' to guard against this in future. Except maybe FF.

according to microsoft its a problem caused by corrupt plugins that leads to this. but i have found clearing out the cache works as well.
