    its half price at pcworld. where did that graphics card guide go from pinned?

    i just wanna know if its worth it and how does it compare to a 9600pro.

    my 9600pro is going out of date and i'm planning on building a complete new system (with a case and everything! ). i wanna keep the one i've got for lan parties rather than canibalise it.

    Stop babbling dave! ok. is it worth getting this while its dirt cheap for my new pc to get it running till i can afford an x800?

    depends which version of the 5700...but either way the 9600pro isn't much different from the 5700.

    9 frame loss on unreal 2004 to 1 frame gain on call of duty anyone have any ideas if anything in particular causes this?

    i think its just the normal 5700. its normal price is £100 my cards £90 cept not sapphire.

    thanks for the link to the guide.

    so if anyones interested (or wants to point out what i missed or advise)

    Code:
     new pc:

    X = got
    / = might have
    _ = need

    X 17" monitor
    _ case
    _ mobo
    _ cpu
    / graphics card
    X soundcard - soundblaster live! value (not the best i know but for some reason theres 2 spare in the house
    X keyboard
    _ infrared/laser mouse
    / 1024 RAM - might have some. dont know what type or what type i'll want/need
    any suggestions?

    For a CPU i would say my choice right now would be a 64bit AMD 3200 or 3400.

    Im not 100% sure if it still works but i have a 40gb hard drive i could format and send you. Would mean you would only need to find another 20gb or still buy your 60gb nd have it as extra space.

    I'll tes it in the next couple of days and if i can get it working and playing movies, music and games from it, if your inerested PM me.

    DVD Writer, theres a good NEC one, a 2500e or something, firmware hack makes it dual layered. Can't remember the name but alot of people here have it. I think Cheese got it....or at least he got one from ebuyer and it was good.

    Graphics card i would say a 9800 Pro, they are about £110-£130. Cheese also got one of them so i'd ask him if it plays newer games (I noticed you play alot of half life 2) well enough to warrent an upgrade.

    i was thinking of the cheap graphics card, cos i'm only keeping it till january. then i could buy a mobo just with the difference. my plan is a real hardcore pc unnecessarily good. i think a fast hdd will shorten loading times drastically wont it. problem is i'm not rich

    Keep he 9600Pro till Jan then, its not a bad card at all. Inact its a mid to high card.

    I would say go for 64bit if you have the money. When 64bit windows comes you will see a 33% proformance increase over an intel chip tha is about the same. Meaning a 3200 64 chip will pwn a Intel 3.4Ghz.

    something ive been wondering about. how do games use a 64-bit chip? do they just use half or emulate a faster 32 bit or what?
