    okaaaay.....
lets dig a little deeper here

is that because of the hidden system files - if so it is easy to copy those
bytheway where is the windows Registry actually kept?

registry is in hive files i think.
There's one in the windows folder somewhere and the user registry part is in your documents and settings folder somewhere.

you can't just copy it over because the boot files and stuff aren't going to be taken with (could be wrong i've never tried this i'm only assuming).

Norton Ghost works great on CDRs (I used versions prior to v9.0), however, the DVD burning support did not work at all on my DVDR. Perhaps the newer version supports newer DVD burners.

ANYHOW, I was able to backup Windows XP perfectly on an NTFS partition. An exact clone!

You can copy the contents of one hard drive to another. You can copy your operating system, applications, and data to a new hard drive. If the hard drive you are copying contains more than one partition, you must copy the partitions one at a time to the new hard drive.

You can use the Copy Drives feature when you upgrade to a larger hard drive or when you add a second hard drive and keep the original. You should not use the Copy Drives feature to set up a hard drive that will be used in another computer.
    Download Norton Ghost 9.0
Its only 30MB, you need a keygen...
