OK, so I find something on the net that I want to mess with/change in Photoshop. The thing I found was a .gif. I opened it in Photoshop CS and it told me I could only view one frame of the .gif, but thats OK because thats all I needed. Why wont Photoshop let me duplicate the layer? I even tried saving it as a .psd and then duplicating the layer but, nope.

.gifs dont have layers so you have to change it to something else
    so
    load gif in ptshp
    clik image>mode>rgb colour

    then to duplicate layr either
    1. right clik on layer palette layer>duplict lyr

    or

2.Grab the layer you want dupped in the layers palete
and drag it down to the little icon at bottom of lyrs pltt and drop t
on the icon next to the garbage can

method 2 is faster - no confirmation asked

Yeah, but this was a completely different question on a completely different day.
