I need to set up one of my computers for my son w/ restricted access to the net. Such things as not being able to surf *pron* sites , *unwanted places* and just visit sites i specify.

    How would i do that?

Note* My son only visits nick.com and cartoonetwork.com lol. ( But onces i saw him visit a pr0n site at nite... =\) How would i setup my computer so it would only allow those 2 sites to ever be accessed, running win xp pro, sp2. :

    What OS are you using?

XP allows you to set different user accounts to each PC with no trouble restricting acces. Or you could purchase CyberPatrol or NetNanny for a fee.

    I recommend the first though.

Glad to see another parent looking after their children. You wouldn't belive the amount of irresponsible parents these days!

i guess you could use a firewall app and set it to only allow the IP's of the sites you want him to be able to visit.

I use a Netgear ADSL modem/router which allows me to set a filter list..do you use a router?

I hear good things about Net Nanny.

But I think you should be aware of the “forbidden apple” effect. That is by making something forbidden you increase the desire to do that something.

So does that mean he should take him to a strip bar, get him a lap dance, and then buy him a hooker for the night and then he wont want to visit porn sites ever again, WoW what a revelation, your brilliant...

    No, am not saying that....

Am just saying making something forbidden increases the desire to do that something. It apply to anyone regardless of age, sex or culture...

I Am not giving parental advice or anything, that is SaYiaN job.

Mock up a porn site with his mom on it.. that way, when he "accidentally" finds it, it will put him off looking in the future...
