I downloaded a 700mb movie and it has french and english audio channels I want to remove the french ones to turn it into a dvd but the french is set as default and in virtualdub there is no visible option to remove an audio channel

if you do a search for "Dual Audio" in In.Memory.Of.ShareReactor.chm you will see a bunch of them.

use virtualdubmod and select streams->streams list and select the audio track you want and hit save wav. use tmpgenc to convert the video and audio.
