    i would like a program that would automatically shut down a computer after its been left dormand for an hour or something, like windows can put the monitor in standby, i would like software to actually shut it down.

    try the shutdown command in Scheduled Tasks if your in windows 2000/xp.

    the computer that im wantin to shutdown automatically is running windows millenium,
    its my flatmates, hes a bloddy retard, and uses it only for music and just leaves it on and its costing a fortune in electricity, even though he could use his laptop for the same job and it would use about a fifth of the electicity.
    he also leaves that on all the time.

    You can try using power management, turn off the HD, monitor, Go into stand by or hibernate (turn off) after an x amount of time.

    it doesnt have the hibernate function for some reason, but ive already got all them set, but its till uses a fair bit of power in stanby im sure,
