    Why does the 6800 need at least 350 W of PSU? ANy particular reason?

    because with these new hi powered (performance wise) video cards they need more power to power themselves.

    like CPUs.

    It's not certain it absolutely won't work with a 300W supply, there are other considerations to take into account other than just pure wattage on a psu.
