And what abotu a pogram to access files in the C:/RESTORE folder ? there's hundreds of megs in there - all Access Denied.

goto - control panel>system>system restore
either
turn it off (and then turn it on again or not)
or
lower the amount of space isys restore is allowed to use

....It seems very hard to get a good Free (legal) disk defragger !....

I use O&O Defrag 2000 Freeware, Power Defragmenter & System File Defragmenter v2.3 (only for the registry). The 1st two are very good disk defragmenters & the 3rd should be run after 1 of the 1st two. All 3 are freeware.
