What does it mean when a download is stalled?
I'm still uploading the file but I can't seem to get it to download.
It's also greyed out in my Shared folder.

Did I click on something to make it stall?

    hmm...asspie

    Nope.
    Got enough diskspace.
One of the stalled downloads just started downloading again,so i guess it's nothing important.
The file does remain greyed out in my 'Shared Files' though.

    hmm...asspie

It is stalled from the moment i open up emule+.
    Restarting didn't change anything.

Stalled just means that none of the file has downloaded for a certain amount of time. I think it's 2 days.
It's no big deal... I've heard of files stalling for a month and then suddenly completing.

If you go into your Shared Files and right click on that greyed out file and set its Priority to Release, that might jump start the download ...if there's any sources out there.

I just installed the emule plus binaries yesterday and I got one download stalling. Your description uNz sounds right.. the file has only a handful of sources and only one with it complete.

I thought setting its priority to release is only for uploading. Thats the point of release, to quickly upload new files to emule. If a dl being stalled means there are few sources or no downloadable parts, then it should automatically be on Hi. All you can do is wait i guess.

Exactly. And uploaders are the ones who get the download slots, right?
Release will encourage the upload of the file parts you have already, if there's anybody out there who doesn't have those particular parts, especially if the file is rare.
This in turn will get you a download slot and your download will resume.

I'm not saying this trick will be successful 100% of the time. It's worked for me about three times out of ten. Think of it as reverse psychology applied to ed2k servers.

oh, so you mean it would take advantage of source exchange? that makes a bit more sense.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Sometimes the network just seems to forget about stalled downloads too.
