There are lots of things that can determine what's best for you.

Look on www.videohelp.com and you can enter in your exact system and see what has worked for others.

Different burners have different tolerances of the varying quality of media and the different types.

A few months ago I bought a Benq Enlight DW1620 Dual Layer 16x which is supposed to be compatible with both + and - dvdrs but mine turns dvdr- discs into coasters

I found most out about it by looking at the product feedback pages of Ebuyer and generally looking around to see what other users thought about the product. Others find my burner to be fairly temperamental and intolerant of budget dvdrs, hope you have better luck with your's.
I plan on beating him to death with his kids. I'll use them as a bludgeon on his face. -

I get the Sonic 1-2x. They actually burn at 4x and the burners ive tried them on have been compatible. Ive used these for ALOT of xboxs, 5 different ps2s, and tons of different dvd players. All of them being able to read the discs.
Need a cheap/easy way of modding your xbox? Check this out.

panasonic dvr109 is the best atm, and like £50.
    off top of my head:

    +/-R, 16speed
    +/-RW 6 or 8 speed
+rDL 4speed (will goto 6 in firmware upgrade)

I have been using generic 4X DVD-R (Yi Jhan - Matrix). They come in 50 spindle packs for $9.99 Canadian. That's about $8.00 US. So that's 16¢ each.

I have burned many without problems with my LG 16X GSA4160B DL burner.

I think you've both misunderstood. Vivitron has posted about his burner (panasonic dvr109), not about discs.

I get my discs here. They may not be the cheapest (although they aren't far off), but they are very reliable. I don't think they are stocking anything faster than 8x atm.

You should probably stay away from disks with FUJIFILM03 media code if you've got an NEC burner, you won't get the quoted 8x speed, although I haven't had any burn problems with them.
