is there a plug in or something that lets sony vegas use xvid avi's? so far, it only works with divx files, and if i want something from an xvid file, i have to convert, and it's annoying

    Nope Vegas doesn't read xvids.
I do have a copy of CinemaCraft Encoder that converts the format very nicely, allowing me to put the file straight into Sony's DVD Architect. CCE, however, doesn't handle 5.1 audio if it's in there, so it looks like I'll be learning how to use virtualdubmod for that.
