Missouri: Do you want a soda? (soda water means "carbonated")

What kind?
7up.
ok
This seemed weird to mean that a brand name could represent the whole spectrum of carbonated beverages.
You could also say, "Do you want a cola?"
All of these will get you some soft drink. Oh yeah, that is another term. "Soft" meaning "no alcohol".
Hobbes was brought up asking for soda.

That is pretty weirdOriginally Posted by hobbes
Soft can also mean non-carbonated so I still say pop is the best generic term for a non-alcoholic carbonated beverage. I guess Wales has something in common with Iowa. Cool
Mmmmmmm coffee... has to be filtered, preferrably Tim Horton's. Cream is better, milk will do in extreme situations.

I believe I shall now call it a 'non-alcoholic carbonated beverage', though I fear I may bit burned at the stake by the first shopkeeper I ask for such an item.
On topic, I like coffe sweets etc but don't like coffee as a drink, sorry non alcoholic non carbonated hot beverage
Iowa..where men are men, and sheep are scared.
I've been sitting here racking my brain trying to think of a UK based example of using a brand name instead of the product.Originally Posted by hobbes
