    most of the times that i d/l a movie it doesnt play the movie in WMP but i can play it in VLC
    when i try to play the movie in WMP it says Error Downloading Codec and then only the audio plays
    well im tryin to convert a avi to mpeg1/2 with WinAVi and its giving me an error that says make sure that the movie can be played in WMP

    so i was wondering what is the best codec for WMP

    Why do you wanna play it in WMP?

    WMP uses the same codecs as other players.

    Install the "K-Lite Codec" pack or the "StormediaAIO" codec pack...
    Both very good packs...
    you should have no problems after installing 1 of those...
    The reason why VideoLAN(VLC) plays all your movies is that it has its own built-in codecs, which your other players cant use

    @ {I}{K}{E}

    hes trying to convert it with WinAVI Video Convertor, which gayly enough uses the WMP codec to convert it with...

    My personal preference is either the full or the mega codec pack..
    That way you have everything in case later on down the track you need another codec its already installed
