    Yep. It will put more strain on your puter and shorten its life.

    You can overclock a lot..just keep the temp good and it shouldnt hurt it at all really..

    Yea im looking nito purchasing a new fan/heatsink i need one bad lol Ive over clocked from 2 ghz to 2.48 ghz on stock cooling (some made in thailand "MTU COOLER" Thats what mine says on it)

    It gets addictive and expensive quick. You'd be better off to spend that time and money on upgraded products imo.

    What exactly is a shorter life?

    I've never yet had a CPU die because of old age, and I've been using them for more years than I care to admit to. On the odd occasion that one has failed there has always been a specific cause not directly related to the CPU itself.

    Well it would shorten the expected date of it dying but it would be already such a long time away you still won't know the difference.
    ie. it will die in 2056.
