I've had it with this piece of crap (SiS Chip 300/305),
I definitively am getting a Video Card, I've had it of those Error messages, I can't play the newest games; I just donwloaded Halo and my video card turned out to be non compatible.
I wan't to play too, do you understand my situatuion?...

Im very ignorant on when it comes to video cards so
I went to bestbuy.com and frys.com and there I saw many cards,
things like ATI, GeForce, etc. So, based on my sistem spects, what would be your advice?

    Windows XP Pro
Office 2003 (don't know if its relevant)
    ViewSonic Monitor 17" EA771B
128 RAM (I'll get at lest 256 before the VCard)
    Intel Celeron D, 2.5 GHz
    80 GB HD

I would very much apreciate any info on how do you think I showld proceed.
    Thanks.

    Upgrade to 512mb ram

And get GeForce 6600GT, its about $200 and stands up with some of the best cards out right now. Way better then ATI, and afforable.

Assuming you've currently got graphics integrated into your motherboard, (or a PCI card rather than AGP) check 2 things before you get a new graphics card.

    1. make sure you've got an AGP slot.
    2. make sure you can turn off the onboard graphics.

You might think that if you've got the first that you must be able to do the second, but for some reason it isn't always the case.

Yep as Lynx says first of all.

But if you don't want to spend too much on a vid card i'd recomend something like a 9600pro or 9600xt.
Higher up range would be a 6600 or 6800 if you want absolute best.

You can get a decent 9800 pro for 180ish last I checked. But dude you need ram, lots of ram. 256 isn't gonna cut it. 512 is nicer, But while your shopping I suggest you get a gig.

some things you should check befor you buy your video card and ram.

speed of your agp slot, (8x is the fastest). i suggest you get a ATI Raedon 9600 xt or 9800 pro for your video card.

and how much ram your motherboard can support (so get 512 if you can)
make sure you get the right type of ram too.
