    DFX is good, IMO.

You would have to crack it ,of course, to utilize it's full potential. Other than that, just perform a Google search for "media player plugins".

I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down.

This is a good idea also.

Preferrably something amplified or boosted in part by it's own power source. Many times, the little default set that comes with many PC's and PC bundles are simply not worth two rat-shits and IMO, you could get better sound quality from a ten year-old AM car radio.

$12-$20USD, depending upon the make/model that interests you, at your local Walmart. Worth the investment if you do not want your .mp3/.wma files to sound like your grandfather's old vinyl 45's.

I know on Windows you can adjust the bass or select the "bass boost" feature.

On Linux I havn't mucked around much with audio enhancements because my Sub has a "bass boost" feature and can also adjust the bass % etc.
