I can't believe you're so worked up over insignificant amounts of memory and clock cycles.
There isn't a bargepole long enough for me to work on [a Sony Viao] - clocker 2008

that just stops / starts a service befoe you disconnect your device.
you can unplug it with no harm...but I don't know if you can disable it...I've never found out how.

this post is guaranteed 100% parrot-free

not all printers do this and it IS an annoying feature. For printers that are usually made to be plugged in one time and not removed there's no reason to have that icon. My parents have an HP that does this and it's so annoying. Always hide is the only option.

Is this not because it`s a usb connection on your printer.

    i have a USB printer.....
    i dont have that icon
and its an HP as well

    -edit-
try getting the latest driver package from HP Ad
    or uninstalling/reinstalling the printer
there has to be some way to make windows realize its not a "quick remove" piece of hardware

I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down.
