    I get this error everytime I start:

    should I reinstall norton, or have they cracked down on pirate copies and starting to shut them down this way?

    remove norton -> (run a regcleaner) -> run an online virus scanner -> reinstall norton.

    start in safe
    kill all weird looking processes
    remove weird startup programs
    then do what IKE said
    have fun it is beatable
