Saving an image in IE

[reminder]

When I try to save an image in IE (right click and Save Picture As), it tries to save the image as .bmp , even if the Image is .jpg .

So how can I ensure that the image is saved as .jpg

I've had this sometimes too, I think it's something to do with your Internet cache being full, Do you delete your internet files and cookies regular?

Yes,deleting your cache should fix that.
Get a program like crapcleaner to do it,because if you do it through IE itself it takes ages to clear.
