Thread: How do I use the USB add-on?

  1. #1
I got this USB add on thing that hooks up to the motherboard. The holes dont match up though. Here is an image of usb connector and the area its supposed to plug it... the one on the left is the top view of the place it goes on the motherboard.

Is that a PC Chips M957G?

If so, then page 41 and 42 of your manual will explain that the usb headers are the yellow connectors.

That doesnt show anything. I already have the front USBs hooked up. I have a free spot and want to hook up some more.

The pin headers on my mobo look exactly like your pic (but so do the firewire connections which is pretty stupid) and all the connectors I've had recently are configured to match.

Did the USB adapter come with that mobo or was it with another one and you are trying to make it work?

Question, if the number of pins and the format matches, is it ok to at least try one of those brackets out even if it's from another mobo?

I thought those old ten pin usb thingies were all the same, no matter the mobo.

I've got one too, see, and a matching connector on my mobo.

I beleive it's safe to try.
because for case front usb connections if you get it wrong no damage is done you just have to switch the wires around, so i assume it's the same for a bracket.
