Thread: Help! XP wont load

    Pc loads til it gets to Windows XP loading screen with the black backround and the little bar that slides in the middle. I know, nice description.

    The bar loads slowly for about a minute then it begins to crawl, slower and slower til it stops. Every now and then it will actually load windows. Anyone know what the problem is?

    Ive loaded to safe-mode just fine. Scanned for viruses and it found nothing. Scanned for adware, found a few things but nothing big. Defragged the hd (which took roughly 8-10 hrs)

    its times like this where a full reformat is needed. Of course, ur going to lose all your files in the process. But hey, you system gets all cleaned afterwards.

    Erm, as for a "better" solution, no idea. Once i get errors before windows even loads, i know something is very screwed up and usually beyond repair.

    So you can get to the windows screen ? Have you tryed a chkdsk ?

    repair install?


    it could be corrupt drivers or other boot files, repair isntall should fix all that.

    Well I would n't format just yet , but do understand what you mean Bishtawiman . Mabye try a restore , or if winxp pro try an upgrade install.

    If this was my pc I would have formatted long ago. Nothing like a fresh install

    Well then just try spyware or virus scans, if that does fix your safe.


    If dads computer blame on the porn . If moms puter blame on the spyware . Everyones happy when you format and fix it !
