    It's Windows Messenger

Start > Run -> Type the following command (press OK when done):

    RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Hey {I}{K}{E}, That works like a charm. I even tried it on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. It works on that too.

    Thanks, IKE!

While I apreciate knowing now how to remove Windows Messenger, how about also removing those little traces (programs files, folders, registry entries, etc...) that are often left behind? Anyone have a list of what and where these items that have to be manually removed?

I dunno' about ike's method, but the one I posted uninstalls it, so it should get wiped (almost?) completely then.

You'll find the option for removing it among the removable windows components, through add/remove programs.

You can use it to get rid of the pinball game, wordpad and some other stuff that installs with windows too, in case that's interesting.
