Surely the software you recorded it with has quality settings.

Anyhow, it shouldn't be too difficult to convert mpeg2 to divx or xvid which would compress it. I don't really do that much now, with cheap dvdr available, but there's shed loads of software you can do it with.

By the sounds of it he used Fraps which records gameplay in real time so it doesnt have time to compress it. Using DivX/Xvid in Auto Gordian Knot.

Like 30 min after I posted this, I remembered about AutoGK :p

So I used that. Got it down to 700 MB and the quality is still pretty good.

I recorded using my TV Tuner. The divx/xvid encodings sucked on it. So I used the dvd setting (10 MB/s). Its all good now

if you couldn't get a decent xvid rip of it......you suck

i can see a divx encode sucking ass, but not xvid, not when done properly

No, its a prob with the card/software. Converted to xvid with no problems, plus it was alot smaller and better quality then if I used the software that came with it.

Xvid is based on the surce code of DivX if my memory serves me well, so Xvid is just DivX with a few tweaks, so the difference in encoding would be minamal really.

Xvid does better on lower quality things then Divx.

Xvid provides better picture quality than divx, plus the file size is smaller than dvix.
