    what seems to be the best chipset to look for in a 939 mobo?
    somethin that'll run the 4000+, and probably a 6800GT or X850 Pro PCI-E....

    my nforce3 isn't happy with my 9600pro. (conspiracy? )

    games won't run at agp x8 and i can't use fastwrite. so at the moment i can only do 4x.

    one of the things ati.com says to do is flash my mobo bios, and there is a new version. i'm scared i'll mess up if i try it though.

    i don't know if this is an ATI fault that makes my card incompatible with my specific mobo, all nforce or many other motherboards?
    or a motherboard fault that makes it incompatible with some graphics cards.

    i can't remember how i found the page about it, sorry.

    in short: check if these boards have a history with graphics cards

    oh yeah. you're getting PCI nvidia cards

    Don't bother with socket 754..it's withering on the vine.
    If it survives at all it is destined to be the budget a64 platform.

    Socket 939 with PCI-E is the only sensible choice, IMO.
    Whether you buy into SLI depends on your needs.

    NF4 or KT890Pro.

    Not enough info out yet to decide which is best, IMO, unless you want the SLI feature.

    nah, no SLI, havent liked what i've read about it
    400-500 extra bucks on another card for a few percentage points extra performance...no thnx
    besides, a 6800GT or X850 Pro will prolly be more than i'll ever need

    @clocker - if yer post was meant for me....yes I'm goin 939
    I plan to grab me a 4000+
    its damned near right there with the FX-55 in performance,
    but at about 400 bucks cheaper

    @Gepper - I am running a Radeon 9200 on an nVidia nForce 2 chipset,
    I dont have any problems with it
    flashing the BIOS isnt difficult IMO, you should look into it
    there may even be a windows flasher for it,
    so you dont have to f00k about in DOS

    @lynx - yeah i noticed the lack of available info...
    tried doin some searching, but it seemed like everything was in dutch or somethin

    If you're planning on spending that kind of cash then I'd wait for the new San Diego 1MB L2 cache chips to come out and see how they compare.
