you use StyleXP and ObjectDock? you really dont need those programs. you can also use a small patch then you dont need to have a program installed for custom themes.

get firefox and remove the googletoolbar

Make sure you have the latest version of Java

Ati HotKey Poller??? you have an nvidia card

if you use norton 2005, you should check out Symantec Corp. it uses the same definitions as 2005 but it uses less RAM
Sheesh IKE, did you even read any of the previous posts?? I'll say it again...

I updated my vesrion of HiJackThis! and posted it in the previously stated sites and there's no difference than before.

Ultramon, StyleXP, and ObjectDock are all programs I use.

    Firefox fucking sucks my balls.

I do have the latest Java.

I've already removed the ATI stuff, I just haven't restarted. I just upgraded from an ATI card.

msmsgs.exe is the windows messenger enabled by default.
if you don't use it the process does not need to be running.
ending process usually don't stop it for long, gotta use the group policy snap in to disable it.
    start, run, gpedit.msc, ok
expand - local computer policy, computer configuration, administrative templates, windows componants, windows messenger.
double click-do not allow windows messenger to run, click enabled button, apply, ok.
    close the gps

the messenger service i think is only needed for admin alerts on a lan/network
as 99% mentioned it can be disabled in computer management, services

I had that delayed right-click shit happen before,
but can't remember what the hell caused it
I can tell you one thing though.......
it wasn't for lack of defragging, cleaning, scanning, etc.
there was somethin else going on, just cant recall wtf it was

and as for running processes, unless they're malicious,
they won't fk everything up provided you dont get carried away
I never used to let my pc run any more than, say, 25 or so processes
I was a bit paranoid about em
but this is what I run now:

    Spoiler: Show

....and it runs fine, no lag
(theres actually a few extra processes running, that hijackthis didnt list)
total of about 37 processes I think, system's fine

    and this on a sempron

    had the exact same problem...

Like people say defrag, regclean, check for viruses and spyware in safety mode.

If non of this works check your start-up process with taskbar and see what how much each process is taking up if u see anything using abnormally high resources its probably that that's causing the problem. Then check in msconfig in "run" check in the start-up tag, disable everything (don't worry this won't cause any problem as u can reactivate them). Restart the computer and see how much ram cpu its using, any improvement? One thing is that u might have loads of stuff installed and therefore taking up ram which is something normal...

My case was exactly what your're describing, i went about asking everyone and nothing worked, i wasted ages trying to fix it, WASTE OF TIME..... after a while windows just becomes fucked up, its normal after a few years... As a last resort, back-up the shit that u need, format and reinstall windows, best solution ever....... bliss after that!!! Haven't had a problem since...

    Let us know the results
    All the best

This is what is looking like the only real solution. I've been thinking about this for about two weeks but a I'm trying everything possible beforehand. I have sooooo much software that not easily replaced if you get my drift. But I also don't want to pay some guy to figure it out either.

Well, let's see how easily the software is to replace?

I would need to replace the following:

    Adobe PS CS 8.0
    Adobe PS CS2 9.0
    Ahead Nero 6.3.1.25
    Audacity
    AvRack
    Axialis Icon Workshop 3.0.5.0
    Driver Cleaner Pro
    Everest
    Macromedia software pack
    Stardock
    StyleXP
    Ultramon

Those are the programs I use on a regular basis. I would need to replace all of these programs. If anyone could assist with any of them, please PM me.
