Linksys WRT54GS

We have a Linksys WRT54GS and I am wanting to open ports. On the readme file, it says to go to 192.168.1.1 and when I go there, it prompts for a username/password. On the readme, it says to leave the username field blank and use "admin" as the password. I do so, and nothing happens. I have also tried

admin/admin
ADMIN/ADMIN
blank/admin
admin/blank
etc..

I am not using wireless, just using a normal wired ethernet network. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

It should be blank/admin but can be user modified. If it has beed changed then you cannot get in without the password or a reset of the router.

To reset the router's factory defaults. Press the Reset Button, for approximately five seconds.

It never has been changed. I have never been able to access it in the first place...

reset it as vb said, hold the reset for approx 5 secs

Thanks, I reset the modem... and I went through the setup... the first time... I forgot while I was installing the software that I had to put in a password... so I just used admin/mypassword and it worked
