If you're thinking about purchasing a powerful all-in-one home theater system, you might want to checkout Samsung's new HT-UP30 (MSRP $369) and HT-TP33 (MSRP $495) models, which the company claims to be the world's first to feature a USB plug and play port (via AME Info). The port, in essence, allows users to connect an external USB storage device and playback its media files through the home theater system. So not only can one tune into AM/FM radio, playback music CDs and DVDs, users can also listen to their stored MP3, WMA files, watch DivX, WMV files, and view JPEG images as well.

No, i didnt follow the link, yet.

But, can the software be sort of hacked in these types of stations?
I mean, the codecs might get outdated after a year or so? No?

What happens when divx9 comes out?

Would it play my burned dvd's?

Thats the type of questions im interested atm.
I wouldnt spend money on something expensive which could possibly be
somewhat useless in about a year or two.
I got PC for that.

It aint that much to upgrade after a year or so thought...

Well some of these can be software upgraded like the KISS if I remember correctly and some cant like the Philips dosent seem to even though it has updates Ive yet to see the new XviD applied and from what I understand it cant as its chip based. The fact is that this is a big step for multimedia and we will eventually see those with software upgrade capacities and perhaps a smart move would be usb flash readers as well...
