Thread: XP Disk Defragmenter

  1. #1
With the inbuilt XP Disk Defragmenter i have just noticed when i click "Analyze" nothing happens and also when i click "Defragment" nothing happens also. The other day i had a little sort out with the services, just wondered if it could be something i disabled in there that is stoppin the Disk Defragmenter?

    Any help? Cheers!

Disk Defragmenter can be opened a number of different ways. The most common methods are listed below.

    * Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Defragmenter
    * Start | Run | and type dfrg.msc in the Open line. Click OK
    * Start | Administrative Tools | Computer Management. Expand Storage and select Disk Defragmenter

Hmm, not sure how to fix taht problem, but have you tried diskeeper, O&O Defrag, or speed disk?

They are all much better defragmenting programs than the windows defragmentor.

Well we keep getting flamed for suggesting a "better" program but Ross is right . Diskeeper pro is my poison but there are other good programs out there. PM me for a working version if you can't get your built in one working . sfc scannow or a repair install is an option aswell. But it might be a service you disabled ................but I can't find a fix .

Are you quite certain that your disk is in need of defragmenting at this time? All of these applications will only perform the operation if they feel it necessary to do so.

But for the record, my personal choice lies in Norton's SpeedDisk.
