Thread: at a loss here

    im not sure what to do. first of all heres my specs:
    amd 2500+ (@3200) Barton Core
    asus a7n8x mobo
    2X 256MB kingston pc3200 in dual channel
    ati radeon 9600 video card

    now heres my problem. im not sure if i should buy a Nvidia 6800 or a Nvidia 6600GT and 512MB of ram.

    this is where u guys come in. should i buy the 6800, or should i buy a 6600GT and 512mb ram.

    Sell the 2x256MB and get 2x512MB to maintain dual-channel operation.

    Edit: And get the 6600 if you are talking about 6600GT, otherwise don't bother.

    i gots an idea that i think is better then those top 2 options i posted.. im gonna buy a Nvidia 6800 and soon later buy a 512mb stick of memory. that way i get the best of both worlds. comes out to about $240 total.. ill buy the video card first then save up the other $35 or so and buy the memory.

    The RAM can easily be bought for $69 here.... how much is that video card ?

    im not getting a 6800GT, only a 6800. that extra $80 isnt worth the extra performance. and i can get the ram for $34

    prolly not the best brand of ram, but idc. it has good reveiws and its cheap.


    looks like i got to wait for that video card to come back in stock, but its worth it.

    You want to run that low end RAM with your Kingston?

    Kingston is already quite low end but to buy the lowest end product usually isn't a good idea.
