For those not up to speed:

    1. In Real Life

Siteop by the name of Griffen is strongly suspected of being FBI and running the honeypot site that caused the raids.

    2. In "The Scene" Episode 9

Episode opens, and the two 'sceners' discuss someone named Gryffen, in a distrusting way. Music as usual is playing in the background...

For no apparent reason another voice is played over the top of the music, with a lot of echo effects.. and clearly states "He Works for the FBI"

    what do you guys think?

    read the bolded areas:
    Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know that we're hard at work this week on Episode 10
and we hope to release it by July 9th or 10th. As always, we will post
updates on the site, and I will send a mail around as soon as we're
    about to release.

On another note, as many of you know, there were a series of arrests in
the real 'scene' last week. Ever since our first episode, people have
wondered if we work for Sony, for the RIAA, the MPAA, the FBI, or any
number of other letter combinations. Episode 9 apparently re-ignited
some of these suspicions, so I wanted to take a moment to address some
of the concerns that have been expressed to us.

First off, as we have stated numerous times, The Scene is purely
fictitious, and the sole point of it is to entertain. We have no hidden
agendas, and no desire to frighten or intimidate people - much less have
them arrested. I write all of the scripts myself; I choose the character
    names (including "gryffin")
and I create all the plots and storylines on
my own with no outside input of any kind.

Just as there are shows about the mafia, cops, and big corporations,
we've created a drama about movie piracy. We're not saying that piracy
is right or wrong; we're just telling a story in way that is as
authentic as possible - and we go out of our way to make sure that
nothing in the show could ever get anyone in trouble.

We understood from the beginning that The Scene would be controversial,
and we expected to get heat (from both sides). But we're not going to
stop making the show just because some people are offended. From
everything we've seen and heard, the vast majority of people who watch
our show enjoy it, just as we enjoy making it. Now, some specific
    answers about the conspiracy theories:

    1) A portion of episode 9 was hosted at Hurricane Electric (where some
of the legal action took place last week). Hurricane Electric is one of
the Internet's largest data centers. The fact that legal action took
place there three or four weeks after we shot our show in no way
connects the two events. It's like saying that because two things
happened in Chicago - three weeks apart - one is linked to the other.

    2) We had absolutely no advanced knowledge of the legal action. How
could we have? We're a marketing/entertainment company! From what we've
read, the busts were in the works for years - long before our show was
even conceived. And to my knowledge, the FBI does not have an
entertainment division. If it does we are NOT it!

    3) Apparently, a leading figure in the legal action used the nick
"griffen". As stated above, I chose the name "gryffin" for Episode 9 all
by myself. I selected it because it seemed to fit the storyline and the
character - about whom, i might add, we have revealed very little. The
coincidence has gotten an enormous amount of attention, but in my mind,
however you spell it, the nick "griffen" is like "Bob," "Dave," "Mike,"
or "Jim." It's a simple word that comes from mythology, and I'm willing
to bet it's a very popular nick. Saying that I chose it because I knew
that it would be part of a gigantic bust a week later is absurd.

    4) We shot the video portion of Episode 9 in the public plaza in the
Sony building. I did this, admittedly, as a bit of a joke. I thought I'd
poke fun at the conspiracy theorists. As it turns out, it was poor
timing. (Had we truly known that there would be a bust a week or two
after the episode we would have never done it). By the way, a security
guard, who you can see for a moment in the video, saw our tripod and
asked us to leave, which we did promptly.

    5) One of the songs in Episode 9 features the lyrics "he works for the
FBI". The artist is called Temple City (http://www.templecity.de/). We
selected Temple City because we thought their music was great, and
because it fit the mood of the show. Temple City approached US about
including their music, btw, not the other way around.

That's about it. As always, we appreciate the tremendous support that so
many of you have given us. We invest our own money to produce the show
because we enjoy it. We're thrilled that it's gained such a wide global
audience, and we intend to keep creating it for as long as possible.

    Talk to you soon.
