You'll have to give us some artists that you listen to. Theres a variety and it might not be in your taste.

Since everyone will probably give you new rap and old rock, I figured I will offer the exact opposite: Old(ish) Rap and New(ish) rock. I tried not to pick rap that sounds at all dated and rock that sounds at all classic. You may not like this sh*t, but it suits me. And somewhere in my 600+ song mp3 player, they have a place:

    Rap:
I like the whole album of "Nine - Cloud Nine" Some deep stuff there.
    MC Serch - Migraine
    Everlast - Painkillers
Black Moon - I Got Cha Opin (the original, not the Pete Rock remix)
The Streets - Who Dares Wins, Blinded By the Lights, Push Things Forward
Atmosphere - Trying to Find a Balance
Dj Danger Mouse's version of Jay Z - 99 Problems
    Eminem - Stimulate, Kill You
    Foxy Brown - The Chase
    - Dancehall (Reggae with a hip hop beat)
    Tricky - Diss Never *
    Cypress Hill - Steel Magnolias
Onyx - Walk in New York, Black Dust
    - Reggaeton (Spanish Rap over a hip hop beat)
    Voltio - Julito Marana *
Las Guanabanas - Cuando Un Amigo Se Va *

    Rock:
A Perfect Circle - Judith, The Outsider, The Package, Pet (Hardest stuff)
    Tool - 46 and 2, Stinkfist, Pushit
    Deftones - Bored, Minerva *
Jane's Addiction - Mountain Song, Up The Beach
    Korn - Dirty, No One's There *
    Quicksand - Fazer
System of a Down - Streamline, Forest *
The Distillers - Beat Your Heart Out, Seneca Falls *

    Cheers!
    ------------
    * I know, I know. This or That artist is punk not rock, This or That artist is old school/sucks/etc... whatever. Just give it a shot. At the worst, you have to reseed what you take.

On the rock side, based on your tastes, you would probably be interested in these bands:

    Linkin Park
    KoRn
    A Perfect Circle
    System of a Down
    Thrice
    Gorillaz
    The Mountain Goats
    Current Favorite Song
    Exodus Damage by John Vanderslice
