New Computer

I was looking to buy a brand new computer, Ive put together all the parts. I am just not sure if all the parts match up. The CPU I chose is a socket 939 just like my Motherboard, I have PC3200 Ram, like it says the Motherboard takes, and the HDD's are ATA like the board says it has. The Mobo has PCI Xpress (x16, x1) slots, just like the video card(x16). Im new to this kind of stuff, so Im just not sure, let me post all of the stuff that I am thinking about getting, and someone tell me if I am missing anything, or something doesnt match up. Help is much apprecaited.

Good choice on the DVD Burner, i have one and it's the best i've ever had, not one coaster yet.

Also just as an idea why not remove that 80Gb hard drive and get a 37GB Raptor or a SATA HDD and use it as your OS and your 300gb as storage, that way loading times and Windows should run alot faster.

Don't forget to get a floppy drive either, there very helpful and only $5 or so. Get a 7-1 card reader as there super handy for transfering stuff from camera and mobile phones and only like $10 or so.

What about a sound card? Moniter? It might be a good idea to buy a seperate PSU as well and cheap ones often cut out and cause massive ammounts of damage to all your parts.

Everything will fit together with one exception.

The PSU in your case doesn't match your motherboard.

Newest motherboards have a 24pin power connector, the PSU in that case only has a 20 pin connector. You can get adapters, but a safer option would be to get a separate PSU. Unless you are dead set on that particular case, have a look for something similar but without the PSU.

You should expect to pay more for the PSU alone than the cost of that case with PSU.

There's nothing wrong with the mobo you've chosen, but ask yourself if you need all the features, eg SLI. If not, you could save quite a lot by finding a board which doesn't have the features you don't need.

you can probably get away with some cheaper ram... XMS is overpriced and is aimed or performance maniacs

as mentioned, i would look at why you need a SLI compatible motherboard

i would agree with that antec psu that was suggested, though FSP aka fortran source power is also a very good company to go with

Why buy the nice chip and motherboard only to strangle it on cheap RAM?
Patriot makes a very capable stick for a good price.

Lynx is correct about the PSU.
Whatever unit you decide on should have the 24 pin ATX connector AND (at least) one 6 pin PCIe connector ( two if you might upgrade to full SLI).

about the psu, i believe you need at least 23-24 amps on the +12v rail to fully supply an AMD64 processor

Hmmm.. I'll have to check this out. I have monitors laying about everywhere. LCD's are just too derned expensive, this set is over a gGand in USD anyways. And I was just thinking about using the sound card onboard on the motherboard. Ill check back later with more results.
