Well my friend has a laptop but its broken.
The problem:
The plug(dc-in) where you plug in the ac adapter is broken so the laptop wont charge/turn on therefore cant use it :|
^ the dc in jack is broken
Thats the only problem. The laptop is perfectly fine and its not a old a p3 or p2 its a p4 with 2.0ghz etc.
and he is selling it to me for $300 but is this fixable?

yes easy i broke mine once - toshiba-brought it to toshiba repairs it cost 100 dollares....for a 20 minute job
i suggest you find a cheaper place (reliable)

opening a laptop is a nuisance though
does that laptop have any usb entries? doesn't look like it.......

oh the pic i posted is not the laptop its just a pic to help u understand the situation
i searched online and other people were having the same problem also found this:

Replacing the power jack on laptops is one of the most common repairs we do at the shop where I work.
Assuming you can find the bare replacement jack, the repair itself will require that the unit be stripped naked...you have to remove the motherboard to access the solder points.
The guy who specializes for us can do one in about an hour and a half.
We charge $150 + the jack itself ($19.99, typically).
I would not call it the ideal first DIY laptop repair job......

Assuming you are competent at soldering the repair itself is fairly easy, but stripping it down to get to the motherboard can seem pretty awful. As long as you make a careful note of where everything went (if you've got a digital camera take plenty of photos) it should be straight forward though. Get plenty of small zip-lock bags for screws etc, and number them to go with your notes (if you take photos put the numbered bag in the photo).
Just get him to guarantee that there's nothing else wrong with it though, if you want to avoid having a $300 paperweight. Or tell him you will pay him after it is working. If it doesn't work after the repair you are only out the cost of the repair, he's out a laptop, so he can have it back if he pays for the "repair", or you keep it for spares to cover your costs.
