is it possible to extract the audio only from an mpeg or avi and save it as a mp3 to burn on cd??

Goldwave can do it too. Just make sure you also get the LAMEWIN32 mp3 encoder.

Unless I'm mistaken VirtualDub can only extract audio as a wave file. He asked for something that can save as mp3.

YOur right and to do that just use a program called Headac3he and convert to .mp3 and your done.
