Only in Canada you say?

Here in Canada there is a levy on blank CDs - I guess to try and offset the lost of revenue in music sales.

Starting in January, this tariff will increase to 29 cents per cd. At present 50 cds cost about $30 plus tax. In January, it will increase to $34. This means that about 40% of the cost is a levy going to the music industry...regardless what you do with the cd (even if you fill it with data, or programs.)

Does this levy exist in your country? What is your country doing to offset the lost in music sales?

Cheers - R!
