im not sure, when i was installing the sata driver during xp installation it said error or something but it said starting windows xp right after
im on the computer right now, but sometimes it boots sometimes it doesnt, its making me angry. Also i just installed norton, and now i dontw ant it, when i uninstall it takes like a bajillion years for one bar is that right?
and then sometimes it give me errors
Reboot from cd drive hit install sata drivers ......... insert driver disk ?
will i lose all my stuff i have on it right now?
and do you mean put xp disc in reboot then try installing sata drivers again?
Well ya I'm talking about reformating ,you know Fdisk & format wipe out the sucker . Mabye thats your problem ...... Youy would need to back up your stuff tho before that .
Ok you have a new computer that your trying to set up ? But want to save the harddrive ?

is there a way to back up my files without making tons of data disc
can anyone answer my question with symantic?
I wouldn't let Norton within spitting distance of Sprocket...it's absolute crap, rivalling AOL for it's pervasiveness and obnoxious behaviour.Originally Posted by suprafreak6

I'm somewhat disturbed hearing about your SATA driver install erroring out...not good.
If you do a repair install (NOT the repair console) you don't lose any data/apps (theoretically).

Jeez.
All this crap would go away with a wipe/reload of the OS.
Do it now, get over it and begin to enjoy your new PC.
