Put the sign back up.
Point the name of the place you have come from in the correct direction.
Ok, bumping this one up again...
As I read through this entire thread, I don't believe anyone ever answered this one.

I believe the answer to be GOLD.

There was a second unanswered riddle:
<!--QuoteBegin-Z@24 April 2003 - 01:06
this was on the internet somewhere:
My first is in endurance but not in health
My second is in richer but never in wealth
my third is in beggarwood but not in oak
my fourth is in neighbour but not in folk
my fifth is like a ring, going where it came
and my sixth is the second, exactly the same.
what is it? (btw, i dont know either) [/quote]
Has anyone managed to come up with a solution yet?
Jeez, I'm getting that deja vu feeling all over again ! It's like being sent back in time three separate times and co-existing with 3 versions of myself, sharing the same timespace .................hey, wait a minute ! Isn't that REALLY dangerous or something ?? Couldn't the universe, like, cease to exist or someth
was there a puzzle topic before this one?
cos there was a puzzle that was never answered that i'd really like to know the answer to
the puzzle was along the lines of this:
a truck which weighs 14000lbs is crossing a bridge which has a weight limit of 14000lbs.
on the way across the bridge, a butterfly lands on the truck.
does the bridge collapse? explain your answer.
if anyone knows the answer, please let me know

sounds like gold to me too
as an aside, scientist have actually turned lead into gold, a few thousand atoms at a time. however, a few thousand atoms is nothing in real terms, and the atomic reactor is prohibitively expensive...oh, well, back to the drawing board..
If the bridge could only hold 14000 and no more then itOriginally posted by 2nd gen noob@17 June 2003 - 20:57

Hmmm... Most bridges have a weight limit posted, which is calculated by a structural engineer. As a standard rule (which is the law), the weight limit is always posted at half of what the bridge can actually handle. Therefore, the butterfly does not cause the bridge to collapse.
yeah, i thought there was a degree of safety in there (not sure how much), but if memory serves me right, the person who posed the problem said that was wrong.
i just want to know the solution to the prob
it's still nagging in the back of my head
this is what i have come up with if you go by the spelling of the words:Originally posted by Z@24 April 2003 - 01:06

each letter in succession could be any of these, any combination.
1 - N D U R C
2 - R I C
3 - B E G R W D
4 - N E I G H B R
5 - the letter 'o'
6 - same as #2
have a go at it.
edit: there are 630 possible letter combinations, and i have them all in a text file, using a quick program i wrote. lol. should i spam this muhfucka and post them? try to find one thats a real word. (if this is how you solve this riddle!
