    you should read akira first... a better read imho....

    i havent ever been a big anime fan, i enjoy gundam, etc... now and then, where are good places to start, ghost in the shell?

    Ghost in the Shell is a good one to start with, you know sci-fi and all. Or download the Initial D series. Try the mild ones first.

    Another good anime to start with is BLOOD: The last vampire, although its storyline is somewhat lacking, it was the first time that I saw an anime that seamlessly combined English and Japanese dialect in a fluid, coherent manner. (it's the simple things in life that keep me amused)

    The animation for me, was also well done

    Uhmm how many Vampire Hunter D films are there? I have seen a Vampire Hunter D film and it was damn good but his hand kept freaking me out

    Only 2. The original and Bloodlust. Bloodlust is the better one (and the hand is not as prominent )
