    No, bit-hdtv has hd material that fits a DVD9. They dont have R1 DVD9's.

    Most of the time, extras and non-english audio tracks are ripped out of DVDr's. Once this is done, the compression rate becomes very high (ie, 80-90%), making a DVD5 and a DVD9 seem pretty similar if not the same in quality. You also save in disk space and ratio; not to mention saving much money on the DVDs themselves at the DVD9's are rather pricey.

    What alot of people like to do is save the extras and rip out the non-english audio tracks. A lot of the scene releases have some good extras if not all of the extras ripped out, just to follow the bit rate rules.
